Team 3213, Thunder Tech, is participating in the FIRST robotics competition, a rookie team working on a challenge. FIRST is the extraordinary program that hopes to encourage students looking at being leaders and exploring science and technology. With the help of mentors, the expectations are that youth may begin to find an educating and entertaining experience from exploring and applying themselves into the fields of science, technology, and engineering. Through these experiences, students can grow in leadership skills, as well as communication and self-confidence, not to mention knowledge. This is a great boost to communities such as ours, where most of the students come from non-college degree families. With a program like FIRST, students find interests and courage to look into jobs and college degrees that may have been dreams before, things beyond their reach amongst the stars. FIRST is a source to hopeful places such as ours, a one way ticket to the sky and allows us to see how vast the rewards of applying ourselves to a phenomenal subject. FIRST is first and foremost a positive and mind-blowing setting in the form of robotics.
